CSULB Named a 2016 “Best College Value” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) has been named to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance’s list of the Top 300 Best College Values of 2016. Introduced in 1998, the rankings highlight public schools, private universities and private liberal arts colleges that combine outstanding academics with affordable cost. In addition, Kiplinger has ranked the top 100 best values in each category and CSULB was also selected among the 100 best values for public colleges.

“Excellence and educational opportunity are critical values of the Cal State Long Beach mission, so we take great pride in being named to the Kiplinger’s list,” said President Jane Close Conoley.

Kiplinger assesses value by measurable standards of academic quality and affordability. Quality measures include the admission rate, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and four-year graduation rate. Cost criteria include sticker price, financial aid and average debt at graduation. Many schools have appeared on the list multiple times, a testament to the consistent value these colleges provide.

The excellence of the academic offerings and affordability of CSULB continue to make the university a popular choice for potential college students. For the recently concluded 2016 Fall application period, CSULB received more applications from first-time freshman (60,498) and transfer students (29,001) than any other California State University campus.
