College of Engineering

Boeing Simulator Women in Engineering

Cal State Long Beach’s College of Engineering is the fifth largest producer of engineers in California and the second largest in the CSU system. Our graduates are sought after by a wide range of industries — from aerospace to civil engineering and construction and from biotechnology to software technology.

A leader in high-ROI engineering education, the college is committed to launching a diverse “think force” and is proud to offer a student-first approach as well as thriving partnerships with academic, government and industry partners. We are shaping the next generation of engineering practitioners whose innovations will help countless human beings lead healthier, safer and more productive lives.

Opportunities for Investment

Endowed College of Engineering

Enable the growth of existing programs and the development of new ones with a transformational naming opportunity for the college. Priorities include initiatives to recruit, retain and graduate more first-generation and historically underserved students; pilots for new certificates and degree programs that align with the next wave of high-demand careers; faculty and student research; and state-of the-art facilities and equipment.

New Learning & Innovation Building

Construct a thoughtfully designed building that will enable the college to fully realize itself as a model of engineering excellence. Purpose-built spaces will provide increased research capability, a showcase for projects, cross-curricular collaboration and greater access to hands-on project work. We envision a staffed Design and Innovation Center for all engineering majors as well as shared multi-disciplinary labs for emerging disciplines, organized by theme, e.g. Space Beach Institute, Biochemical Processes and Microfabrication, Machine Learning Applications and Computer Science Innovation Academy.

Invest in a Diverse 'Think Force'

Build an inclusive, boundary-breaking “think force” for students traditionally underrepresented in engineering fields. We envision expanded K-12 outreach, scholarships, targeted tutoring, first-year student support services, career-skills and soft-skills development, internships, research opportunities and mentoring. Our students will be ready to power the economy of Southern California and beyond.
