Ted Stankowich—an evolutionary behavioral ecologist, professor, and director of the Mammal Lab at Cal State Long Beach, was cited by LAist radio and KCBS news in a story about why coyotes may seem more visible recently. He explained that it’s currently mating season, which makes coyotes more active as they search for partners. He also outlined several safety measures people can take if they encounter coyotes in the wild.
