Christine Whitcraft, a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and principal investigator of Wetlands Ecology Lab at Cal State Long Beach, tells FOX 11 news and Spectrum News1 that  Long Beach’s recent flooding shows how sea-level rise can amplify natural tidal cycles, offering a real-world preview of future coastal conditions. Whitcraft says sand berms provide only a short-term defense, and that protecting vulnerable streets will require more permanent solutions.
