CSULB researcher helps restore Seal Beach wetlands threatened by rising seas

Christine Whitcraft, a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and principal investigator of Wetlands Ecology Lab at Cal State Long Beach, spoke with Spectrum News One about a decade-long sediment augmentation project at the Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge. The innovative project has successfully raised marsh elevations, restored critical habitat for endangered birds, and demonstrated a promising strategy for helping coastal wetlands adapt to sea-level rise.
