Graduation Information Fair

CSULB Graduates Pose at Commencement

Save the date! The Bookstore is hosting a Graduation Fair March 21-24th, 2022. The Grad Fair will include resources on how to order a cap and gown, announcements, make appointments for grad photos, and frequently asked questions.

Academic Regalia

In observance of academic tradition and Commencement decorum, participants are encouraged to wear CSULB custom academic apparel consisting of a black gown and mortarboard (cap) with tassel. Personnel at the bookstore can assist you in selecting and purchasing the correct apparel size and tassel either through email, fns-graduation@csulb.edu or phone, 562-985-5093. Bachelors Participant

All bachelor’s degree candidates are encouraged to wear colored tassels according to the college that grants the degree. CSULB bachelor's candidates do not wear hoods.

Masters Participant

All master's degree candidates are encouraged to wear a hood and gold tassels on their mortarboards (caps). Master's hoods are lined with University colors, black and gold, and the velvet panels depict the color of the discipline granting the degree.

Doctoral Participant

All doctoral degree candidates are encouraged to wear gold tassels on their tams (doctoral caps). Doctoral hoods are lined with University colors, black and gold. Velvet panels show the color of the discipline granting the degree.

Honor Cords

Purchasing honor cords require a cumulative CSULB GPA of 3.5 or above.  Graduates will need to present their transcript upon purchase from the University Bookstore.

Arts in Brown, Business Administration in Drab Green, Education in Light Blue, Engineering in Orange, Health and Human Services in Sage, Liberal Arts in White, Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Yellow
