Kylie Foster
Associate

Major: Psychology

Hails From: Westminster, Calif.

Research Interests: The intersection of neuropsychology and social psychology in relation to substance abuse

Personal Interests: Bullet journaling, singing, naps

Favorite Scientist: Karen Horney is one of the first psychologists I ever read about who so blatantly opposed Freudian ideas. I think it's important to question theories that become mainstream or status quo. If it's right, then meta-analysis will just give it more validity. If it's wrong, it shouldn't be status quo.

"Like all sciences and all valuations, the psychology of women has hitherto been considered only from the point of view of men." ~ Karen Horney

Fun Fact: Sometimes I get up early on the weekends to go to the beach and take a nap.

Major: Marine Biology

Hails From: Highland, Calif.

Research Interests: Utilizing the physiology of marine organisms and integrating their cellular processes into research regarding human health.

Personal Interests: I love the creative freedom that painting brings to me. I especially love painting portraits with surrealistic elements. I've also been having a lot of fun learning how to surf recently!

Favorite Scientist: I don't have a singular favorite scientist, but collectively scientists who are women and belong to ethnic minorities motivate me to work hard and go against the social stigma set within the scientific community.

Fun Fact: My first kiss was with a dolphin in Hawaii!
