First Foresight Fundamentals Cohort Completes Training, Paving the Way for a Future-Ready CSULB
Since 2017, CSULB has partnered with the Institute for the Future (IFTF) to bring strategic foresight into the heart of future planning.
This collaboration led to the development and implementation of a customized toolkit designed to support CSULB’s Future Planning efforts under the Beach 2030 initiative. This year, the toolkit evolved into Foresight Fundamentals Trainings, a three-part training series that equips staff, faculty, and students with future-ready tools to collaboratively explore emerging trends, anticipate challenges, and shape resilient strategies for student success.
Foresight Fundamentals Trainings provide our campus community with future-ready skills that are rare in higher education but essential for navigating a rapidly changing world. By fostering interdisciplinary thinking on topics like the future of work and education, these trainings directly support Beach 2030’s commitment to building resilience and empowering our campus community to be a future-ready university.
With energy and dedication to student success, the inaugural Foresight Fundamentals Training cohort completed its trainings series through multidimensional modules focused on future-forward tool building, strategic framework creation, and collaborative envisioning for how CSULB can adapt to shifting tides in uncertain times.
This diverse group of faculty, staff, and campus partners—from departments and offices across the university—laid a strong foundation for future cohorts. Drawing from their personal experiences and unique perspectives, participants began developing their own future-thinking practices to support institutional transformation.
