Marilyn Bohl

Marilyn Bohl earned an elementary education credential from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Northern Iowa. In 2001, Luther College honored Marilyn with the Luther Distinguished Service Award.  She is a twin to sister Arline Walter, also a friend and supporter to the university.  Gifts from the sisters transformed the gymnasium in Iowa where both played basketball.  Marilyn also supported her alma mater by establishing a scholarship at Luther College.

Marilyn started with IBM in database design and had 25 years of experience with the company.  She was also Sr. VP and Chief Technology Officer with two startup computer companies-Ingres and Dynasty. Additionally, she authored nine college texts in the computing field.

Marilyn has been involved with CSULB for many years and is an advocate of the campus and the 49er Athletics program.  She particularly is a fan of the LBSU Basketball and Baseball teams and attends most home games.  In addition to serving on the Beach Athletics Board and as an Alumni Association volunteer, Marilyn is very active in Greater Long Beach YMCA, Trinity Lutheran Church, and numerous other community organizations.  Marilyn is a Carillon Society Member and received the highest award for her philanthropic support of CSULB.
