Everybody is living an ordinary life, until Death arrives with a summons and no one can make the journey for them. In Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ wildly inventive riff on the medieval morality play Everyman, the title role is chosen by chance at each performance, sending a different performer into the unknown every night. Friendship, Family, Beauty, Strength, and Stuff are all asked to come along…but when the end is near, who will stay? Darkly funny, startlingly theatrical, and deeply human, Everybody asks the question waiting for us all: when everything else falls away, what remains?
