Welcome to Fall 2025

Dear Beach Community:

Today, I am honored to return to my alma mater to begin serving as acting president of this great university.

Cal State Long Beach has long felt like a second home to me — at various times, I have studied, taught, and worked here — and I want every member of our community to know that same sense of belonging.

My goal as acting president is to draw upon my knowledge and experience — the “toolkit” I developed during my years at The Beach and as CSU general counsel — to help our campus maximize opportunities for growth, meet new and ongoing challenges, elevate equity and inclusion, and serve as a force for good in California and the world.

This is the path to ensuring that the university we love remains a place where learning and creativity thrive and all are welcome.

I am grateful to be here and to have the opportunity to work with and learn from so many talented, dedicated CSULB students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners. I hope to meet as many of you as possible in the coming weeks and months, and I look forward to what we will accomplish together.
