MA in Translation and Interpreting

The Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting (MATI) prepares students for current and emerging careers in the language services industry. This skills-based program combines advanced language proficiency with hands-on training in translation and interpreting technologies, professional workflows, and industry-standard tools, including artificial intelligence. Students develop practical professional skills while learning in specialized facilities designed for translation and interpreting training.

The MATI program combines a common core in Translation and Interpreting Studies with specialized training in one of two tracks: translation or interpreting.

The 36-unit, two-year program emphasizes professional practice, ethical decision-making, intercultural communication, and technological fluency. Students complete the degree with either a master’s thesis or an applied project developed in consultation with faculty advisors.
