Once You're Settled In
Once you're settled into your temporary accommodation, come explore the campus and head over to Hillside Dining, where you and your family or guests are welcome to eat any time today.
As another thank you for your patience, we've added funds to your Beach Bucks account. Beach Bucks are tied to your ID Card and work as an alternative form of payment on and off campus, at the Bookstore, campus dining, convenience stores, and many partner locations. For the full list of where you can spend them, see Participating Locations.
Getting Around: Shuttles
Sunday Shuttles start at 5 p.m. and run between the hotels and Hillside Dining for meals and events. When you're ready for dinner, hop on a shuttle, and it will bring you directly there. After the evening's events, shuttles will bring you back to the hotel as late as 10 p.m.
Monday onward, shuttles run 7 a.m.–11 p.m. on a continuous loop, arriving about every 30 minutes or less, depending on traffic. Shuttles always drop you off at Hillside. To get to class from there, you can walk or switch to a campus shuttle. Check Passio Go for shuttle locations and times.

Your mail will be distributed from the Hillside Service Center. We hope to have mail lockers installed and operational in the building in the coming weeks, but your address will not change. Once the lockers are installed, our staff will transport mail from the Hillside Service Center to the La Playa desk for easier pick-up.

No. Students staying at the hotel should pick up a parking pass from the hotel front desk. There's no charge to you; housing is covering the cost. If you do not already have a pass from the hotel, please be sure to get one as soon as possible.
A limited number of hotspots are available to staff and residents at the hotel. If you're having trouble connecting to the hotel Wi-Fi, reach out to your RA about connecting to a nearby device.
Yes, there's laundry at the hotel, though it's limited.

Housing charges will not start until La Playa Hall is ready.
It depends. Keep your items in your temporary accommodation until La Playa Hall is ready. If the building is ready mid-week, you may begin moving in then, but moving assistance will not be available for mid-week move-ins. If you'd rather have help, you can wait until movers are available to bring everything over. We'll share more details as soon as we get clearance.
La Playa students will get a pro-rated refund for their meal plan. However, they should still access the dining halls in a normal way – swiping in when they go.
