LGBTQ Donors + Allies
As you consider how you want to leave your mark and the kind of impact you’d like to make, we invite you to support our LGBTQ community and become a steward of the Beach legacy. From academic programs to student support services, The Beach has created a climate of inclusion for its LGBTQ community. Today, a wealth of resources — inclusive centers, programs, safe spaces and more — are in place so all students feel they belong, are valued and can succeed at The Beach.
The need is also great, as LGBTQ students often face unique challenges. They are more likely than their non-LGBTQ peers to experience poor mental health, bullying and harassment, all of which have a detrimental impact on their college years and educational outcomes. Nearly one-third of LGBTQ individuals (32.6%) experienced bullying, harassment or assault at college, compared to 18.9% of non-LGBTQ individuals.1
You can help shape students' experience on campus, play a meaningful role in their future and create lasting change at Cal State Long Beach by giving to those programs and resources that mean the most to you. Whether through gifts to scholarships, supportive programs or basic needs and mental health support, you can boost opportunities at The Beach so that all our students can thrive and enjoy the culmination of their goals.
How You Can Help
Your gift can shape someone’s journey of strong academic and personal success at The Beach.
LGBTQ+ Resource Center
The LGBTQ+ Resource Center offers a safe and supportive environment to students, faculty and staff through programming, welcoming areas and connections to vital resources and support on and off-campus. There are multiple ways in which you can elevate programming support, including endowed funds.
To make a gift or discuss different ways in which you can support the center, contact David Roman, Senior Director of Development, at David.Roman@csulb.edu or 562-985-7656.
Forever Legacy through Planned Giving
By including LGBTQ programs in your will or estate plans, you can design your own legacy of inclusion and belonging for future generations. Through tax-smart strategies and financial benefits, you can create a meaningful gift that will allow future students to have a positive college experience on campus and be empowered for life and career after they’ve completed their studies at The Beach.
To learn more, visit beachlegacy.org or contact the Office of Planned Giving at PlannedGiving@csulb.edu or 562-985-6460.
