Highlights to the Safer at Home Order for Faculty and Staff

Published April 24, 2020

CSULB Community,

We hope this communication finds you well, and the people in your life healthy. Thank you for your continued support for our students and campus community, as we continue to work together to navigate the COVID-19 crisis.

This email is a follow up to the communication below, sent out to all employees by EH&S on April 16th, regarding the Long Beach City Safer at Home Order. We wanted to take this opportunity to call out relevant portions of the employee and campus requirements, in relation to the symptom check process, which is found under the CSULB Single Sign On by clicking on the COVID-19 Pre-Screen chiclet.

First and foremost, if you are not feeling well, do not come to work and seek medical advice.

-     The completion of the Pre-Screen Questionnaire is required for all employees who are reporting to campus to work, before they begin their workday. This is a Long Beach City requirement.

-        Those employees reporting to campus to work must have approval from their appropriate administrator. Employees should not be coming to campus unless they have been assigned to work and/or have been given approval from the appropriate administrator.

-        Just prior to coming to campus, employees should complete the symptom check questionnaire. In order to assess an employee’s health condition, the survey should be completed shortly before coming to campus, not the day before.

-       If an employee is not feeling well for any reason, we are asking them to err on the side of caution and refrain from coming to campus, even if it may not be a COVID-related illness. Employees should complete the Pre-Screen Questionnaire and hit the submit button to ensure it is appropriately routed on campus.

o   If “YES” is checked in response to any question or the employee identifies as having any symptoms listed in the questionnaire, they will receive an online directive stating: “Please do not report to work until contacted by SHS or cleared by a physician.”

o   Student Health Services (SHS) will contact the employee, determine the appropriate course of action in relation to their assigned work shift and will provide guidance to Staff Human Resources/Faculty affairs.

o   Staff Human Resources/Faculty Affairs will then work with the department’s ASM to ensure all necessary information is communicated to the employee and department leadership.

We appreciate the efforts of our employees to continue to support recommended health, safety and social distancing guidelines related to the COVID-19 situation. The campus continues to take all necessary precautions to provide a safe and healthy workplace, which is an endeavor that we are all apart of in our current environment.

Regards,
