Farewell Letter from Former Program Manager Diana Aguirre

Published October 7, 2021

Dear Center Familia and Colleagues,

After 9 years of fulfilling service to the CSULB Center for Latino Community Health, Evaluation, and Leadership Training it is with mixed emotions that I bid farewell to a place that contributed tremendously to my growth as a public health professional. I have accepted a position as Community Impact Director with the American Heart Association where I will continue to have an impact on the lives and health of our Latino communities in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.

I will lead nutrition security efforts through policy, systems, and environment strategies with an amazing team of relentless leaders, including Center Familia Ana-Alicia Carr, a Community Advocacy Director at AHA. I am excited to continue improving the health of our Latino community, and other communities of color, through advocacy and guiding the transformation of systems to ensure equitable health for all.

I am grateful for the opportunities, mentorship, and warmth I received from my mentors at the Center. I am especially grateful for the wonderful people I came across while working at the Center, colleagues and friends, who continue to inspire me till this day. Once Center Familia, always Center Familia.

Con Corazón,
Diana Aguirre
