May 12,2022 - Maximize Your Commencement Experience!

In just a few days, we will be celebrating your commencement! Seats are filling up quickly – claim your ten tickets today!

Leading up, The Commencement Team wants to highlight ways to maximize the experience for you and your guests. Check out last year’s celebrations: 2021 CSULB Commencement Ceremonies at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

Arrive Early

To ensure you and your guests have the best possible commencement experience, it is highly recommended that you arrive early. Parking lots will open 90 minutes before the ceremony. Please allow ample time for parking, security check, then join the procession line. Please ensure your guests are seated BY procession time (9AM, 1PM or 5PM) so they may cheer your arrival into the stadium and see you on the jumbotron cross the graduate platform.

Stadium Procession

You and your fellow graduates will gather by department (printed on your GradPass) and departments will process in together. Head to either tunnel (as assigned by department): Tunnel A (near Gate #6) or B, (near Gate #1) and join your classmates in processing into the stadium! Refer to the stadium map here. You and your fellow grads will emerge onto the field, cross the graduate platform, and take your seat to begin the ceremony. Your journey across the graduate platform will be shown on the stadium's large digital screens, so prep your best strut and smile!  Graduates who arrive too late to walk with their departments and in the procession will be instructed to go directly to the student section seats.

Prepare for all weather conditions, including high heat. Like any stadium event, certain sections are exposed to direct sun.

A portion of the procession will take place along the dirt track on the playing field. The tunnels are at a steep incline, and there are stairs to reach your seat in the graduate section of the stands. Please plan your attire and footwear accordingly. High heels are not recommended during the procession into the tunnel.

Tunnel Assignments: please see the FAQs on the commencement website for Tunnel assignments by department.

  • BOTH Tunnels A & B are used for College of Liberal Arts, Business, and Health & Human Services ONLY.

  • Tunnel A is the ONLY tunnel for College of Engineering, Education, The Arts, Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Bag Policy

Although the stadium has extended the opportunity for one clear bag per guest at commencement, note that all bags are subject to inspection, delaying your entry into the stadium. Clear bags may not exceed 12.75” x 6.5” x 12.75.” Please see the commencement website for a detailed bag policy.

Carry-in items will be limited to one factory-sealed plastic water bottle or an empty reusable bottle only. One bottle of water will be given to students at the procession.

Request for Accommodations

ASL Interpreting and closed captioning will be provided at all in-person commencement ceremonies, available live at the stadium. Information regarding how graduates and guests can request disability-related accommodation can be found on the link below:

Complete the Bob Murphy Access Center Event Request Form for disability-related accommodation. You and your guests may request additional accommodation outside of Deaf and Hard of Hearing requests using this same form.
