Dr. Kevin A. Johnson (Ph.D., University of Texas at Austin) is Professor of Communication Studies and Director of the Center for First Amendment Studies at California State University, Long Beach. He is currently Editor of the National Communication Association’s (NCA) First Amendment Studies journal, Chair of the Freedom of Expression Division of NCA, and Chair of the Law and Policy Division of the Broadcast Education Association. He appears on the editorial boards of several academic journals including Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies, Western Journal of Communication, and Communication Law Review. He is author of over 30 scholarly manuscripts, and focuses on the First Amendment, rhetoric, and public controversies.
