University Relations and Development Report

  • In January 2023, the division completed "Countering Implicit Bias Workshop" training led by staff HR.
  • Development team members participated in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Unlearning Behaviors that Limit DEIB in Advancement training, as well as Florida International University’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Fundraising: Inclusive Philanthropy Micro-Credential.
  • In Fall 2022, we published the set of equity-advancing funds as part of the university’s No Barriers campaign.
  • In Spring 2023, as part of our divisional planning, we are exploring opportunities to enhance diversity in our councils and boards, empower employees to discuss issues related to inclusion, find ways to further disseminate equity-focused investment funds, and ensure that our donor base reflects the full diversity of Beach alumni and friends.
  • The Catalyst for Change scholarship and other equity-related funds advancing social justice remain key fundraising priorities for the division. Notable achievements include partnering with the Long Beach Community Foundation to launch the First Full Ride Scholarship for Black Students studying at CSULB
  • In partnership with Giving Docs, CSULB is proud to offer free online estate planning tools to our CSULB stakeholders and Long Beach Community. We recognize that many have long faced inequitable access to the legal system, including to legal resources that will help them protect their families and plan for their assets. • “Inclusive” remains one of the university’s brand-meaning themes, and URD develops and promotes related content throughout the year.
