Researchers publish study on community-based resilience

Faculty from the Colleges of Health and Human Services, Liberal Arts, and Professional and Continuing Education contributed to an article published by the IBM Institute for Business Value examining how communities can strengthen resilience before and after natural disasters. CSULB researchers Shirley Feldmann-Jensen, Steven Jensen, and Sara O’Connor analyzed past incidents to identify effective strategies for disaster preparedness and response. The report emphasized that “the ability to anticipate and prepare for disruptions before they occur is just as critical as the capacity to respond and recover afterward.”
