Cal State Long Beach is one of the most popular universities in the country, according to a new analysis by U.S. News and World Report.

The campus is ranked No. 8 based on the number of applications received for undergraduate admission, just ahead of San Diego State University and one behind New York University. Cal State Long Beach is the top-rated campus in the California State University system.

“The record number of applications CSULB has received over the last several years speaks to the excellent, highly-valued education our graduates receive. It also reflects the deep need our country has for affordable college degrees,” Provost Brian Jersky said. “With our success as a top-notch educational institution, we want to do even more for our community and region. We will continue to explore ways to expand access for all students.”

The ranking by U.S. News was based on data for Fall 2018, when Cal State Long Beach received 69,578 applications for undergraduate admission.
