The 2019 Commencement ceremonies will be held for the first time at the university’s scenic track stadium this May. Preparations are underway for the annual event that will feature a number of upgrades.

With the Walter Pyramid serving as a colorful backdrop, more than 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students are expected to participate in a series of nine college-specific celebrations May 21-May 24 at Jack Rose Stadium. The state-of-the-art stadium will allow improved access for disabled/physically challenged attendees, a better walking and seating surface for all participants and increased seating capacity for 12,000 family and friends. The track site also is closer to overflow seating in Walter Pyramid and adjacent parking facilities.

“We are thrilled that so many graduates will receive their diplomas this year,” said Michele Cesca, vice president for University Relations and Development. “And to hold the ceremonies in this great venue is a plus. It means that we will be able to welcome a larger number of graduates’ families and friends to campus.”

The web site offers graduates and guests information on what to expect during the ceremonies, how to arrive and where to park on campus during the festivities, and whom to contact for additional information.
