Instructions

1. You will need"
   1. A Mac or PC computer with a camera or external USB camera. Kaltura will not work on phones or iPads.
   2. USB microphone
   3. Working internet connection
   4. CSULB login account with BeachBoard
2. Please disable pop-up blocker on your browser. Kaltura will not install or work properly with pop-up block enabled.
   1. Internet Explorer: Tools – Internet options – Privacy tab – Pop-up Blocker – Select or clear the Turn on Pop-up Blocker check box, and then select OK.
   2. Edge: More button in the top right (the one with the three dots) – Settings – View Advanced Settings – Click the slider under the heading that says "Block pop-ups"
   3. Safari option #1: Preferences – Websites – Pop-Up Block – Select Allow all slider on the bottom right
   4. Safari option #2: Preferences – Security tab – ensure Block pop-up windows option is not checked
   5. Chrome: Preferences or Settings – Advanced – Privacy & Security – Site Settings – Pop-Ups and Redirects – Allow all or add: "https://bbcsulb.desire2learn.com"
3. Log onto your BeachBoard.
4. Go to "My Media Library."
5. Go to "Add New" and click on "Kaltura Capture."
6. If pop-up blocker is disabled, BeachBoard will prompt you to download Kaltura and install it to your computer. Download the file and install Kaltura.
7. Once Kaltura installed, return to your browser and refresh your page. You may need to go again to "Add New", then "Kaltura Capture."
8. There should be a pop-up to ask you if you would like to open this program. Click yes. Pop-up blocker will need to be off for Kaltura Capture to launch.
9. Click "New Recording" to start a recording.
10. If Kaltura does not launch and it has already been installed, please restart your computer and follow the instrcutions up to this point.
11. Kaltura should launch a pop-up black window seperate from your browser page.
12. Plug in a USB microphone of your own or provided by T-HELP.
13. Select the audio device drop-down arrow to select your USB microphone, likely labeled "USB PnP Audio Device" Using a microphone for recording is highly recommended for quality recording.
14. If you have a USB camera, select your USB camera on on the drop-down arrow for camera.
15. Make sure none of three options have a strike through it, that means the camera, screen capture, or audio is disabled.
16. You should be able to see your self under camera. Frame yourself as you want to be seen in the recording.
17. Hit the large red record button to start recording. You will not be able to see yourself while you are recording so make sure to look at your camera.
18. Click the red "Pause" button if you would like to pause your recording.
19. Click the white square "Stop" button when you are done recording.
20. A pop-up window with your recording should launch. Play your clip back to make sure the audio and video recorded properly.
21. Write and title and description for you clip and "Save and Upload" it when ready.
22. Once uploaded, return to your browser and BeachBoard's "My Media Library."
23. Click on your clip to select it.
24. Select the "Actions" drop-down menu on the bottom right of your screen and select "Edit."
25. At the top right corner, you can select your clip display options. You have the option of seeing just your clip, showing just your desktop screen, or showing both simultaneously in multiple formats. The two arrows will switch between your camera and screen capture. You also have the option of doing a single screen (just the clip of yourself or your screen), side by side, or picture and picture. Make sure to select you options before downloading your video.
26. Once you've chosen a display preference, go to the "Download" tab and select "Source Quality." Then click save.
27. Click on the "Go to Media" button next to the save button.
28. You will likely need to readjust your screen settings before download. Select your screen settings on the top right of your clip now.
29. A "Download" tab should appear next to details. This could take a few minutes for a long recording. Select the "Download" when ready.
30. Click the download icon under "Actions" to download an MP4 file.
31. Congratulations! You just recorded and downloaded your video.
32. You have the option to edit your clip too. Under the "Action" drop-down arrown, select "Launch Editor." Here you can cut your clip by selecting the time in the timeline and clicking on the scissors "cut" button. You can also delete segments of your clip after cutting them. You can also use the fade-in and fade-out options to modify your clip. Although the fade option looks jumpy on the launch software, it will fade perfectly once your clip is exported.
33. You also have the option to publish your video to a select class if that class "Publish Gallery" has been created. Go to the "Action" drop-down menu and select "Publish" to do this. You can publish to your own private server or publish to a selected class.

Apple's Photo Booth is a photo and video capturing software that comes standard on Mac computers. If you’re using an external video camera, make sure it’s connected to your computer and turned on.

1. Bring a flash drive. The video file may be too large to email.
2. For Nursing Office #41, make sure:
   1. The second HP monitor is turned on. The power button is on the lower right corner.
   2. The wireless keyboard and mouse are charged and ready to use.
3. Please use a USB microphone for clear audio.
   1. After plugging the USB lapel microphone into your computer, click on the apple button on the top left of your Mac and select System Preferences.
   2. Select “Sound” and select “USB PnP Audio Device.”
   3. Now you are ready to use a microphone to record video in Photo Booth or any other program.
4. Open the Photo Booth App. The app's icon look like this.

5. In the Photo Booth app, if you see the white View Photo or Video Preview button, click it to see the red Take Photo or Video button.
6. Click the Video button in the bottom left as shown in this picture.

7. Click the red Record Video button to start recording.
8. Click the red square Stop button when you finish recording.
9. To Export you video, right click on the newly created video box below the main display and select “Export."
10. Select a location and Photo Booth will export a .mov file.
11. Download that file to a flash drive.

Zoom offers a HIPAA/PIPEDA compliant version of its video conferencing software for healthcare purposes. These plans start at $200 per month. If you are a member of the CSULB community, a HIPAA compliant version of Zoom (Telehealth) may be already available to you via your CSULB Single-Sign-On (SSO) portal. If you don't have access, it may also be available by request at BeachBoard Support. Zoom and Zoom Pro are also be available.

BlueJeans also offers a HIPAA compliant version of its video conferencing software for Healthcare purposes. The plan researched for our T-HELP telehealth needs was $588 per year, could accomodate 150 participants at a time, and ther was no limit to invitees to meetings. The service allows for the ability to record the meeting and then download those recordings. You can also upload videos to BlueJeans to show during meetings. The only drawback of the one account is not being able to host multiple meetings as once.

This BlueJeans account would be associated with one person but anyone can login from anywhere using that person’s login and that person could create and facilitate a meeting from anywhere that has internet. Clients can also use an admin password allowing any user to be the administrator for a meeting so the account holder doesn’t actually need to facilitate. BlueJeans will also work internationally with the exception of restricted internet countries such as China or Syria. BlueJeans meeting scheduler will also sync with both Outlook and Google calendar.

Chorus Call is another option for HIPAA compliant video conferencing software. Our project needs lead us to a specific quote for "C-Meeting" services.

Another option available is Chorus Call's CompanionWeb application, which provides operator assisted concierge service. This connects users via their webcams through their laptop/PC/iPads/smart phones. The users will connect to our video bridge, where they will be greeted by one of our Video Specialists. The Video Specialist will check the audio and video quality of the user and then place them into the conference.
