The arrival of upcoming holidays signals a time when many of us look forward to gathering with family and friends.

The pandemic, however, presents new challenges in staying safe, and the sacrifices we may need to make are likely disappointing.

Both our country and our state are experiencing an uptick in the number of new cases of COVID-19. I urge you to take every precaution.

In fact, along with a new travel advisory from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the state has also issued new guidance counseling Californians to avoid non-essential travel outside their home region to help mitigate risk and curb spread of the virus.

For those who must travel outside of the state over Thanksgiving, we strongly recommend that you consider a 14-day self-quarantine upon your return, per current public health guidelines. If you are traveling during the holiday, please notify your supervisor when requested to come to campus for work.

Thank you for fulfilling your role in helping to keep your campus colleagues healthy.
