During the week of April 15 through April 19, the College of Education is sponsoring EDWeek! Activities and events are planned throughout the entire week to help Education students learn more and better prepare for the Education job market.

Monday, April 15

COE-chella: Student, Staff & Faculty Mixer

The COE-chella Spring Mixer is hosted by the College of Education College Council and is open to CSULB students who are interested in pursuing a career in the educational field. Students will have the opportunity to speak to Advisors, learn about the different credential programs, including master’s and advanced credential opportunities.

Come take part in our JCPenny's "Dress for Success" workshop: "Are You Ready for Work?" 3:30-4:30 pm. Learn how to dress professionally and how to prepare for an interview.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Resume Writing for Educators

Human Resource Professionals from local school districts and recruiters in Education will give insights and tips to help students and alumni prepare a professional educator’s resume that can uniquely describe your career objectives, skills, education and experience.

Speed mentoring is a series of short, informal conversations between students, professionals, and faculty advisors. Sign up to be matched with alumni and faculty to ask for advice, receive career guidance, and learn from their experience.

Explore the i-Space: 21st Century Tools for the Classroom

Innovation Lab, University Library

The new Innovation Space, in the CSULB Library ground floor, provides 3D printing and laser cutting tools–a technology which builds physical objects from digital files–it is not just a tool set for designers and engineers; it is available to non-STEM majors (fine arts, theater, and teaching) and other STEM majors (biology, health, chemistry, physics and mathematics to name a few) to help foster the growing interest in STEAM (putting the Arts in STEM).  Come to this demonstration to see how to enhance your teaching skill set with cutting edge 21st century digital tools.

Meet Your Future Employer: Panel & Discussion

Meet Your Future Employer: Panel and Discussion is open to all current College of Education students and alumni interested in learning how to make themselves more marketable as they prepare to enter the workforce from a panel consisting of district representatives. After the panel discussion, students will have the opportunity to have a one-on-one conversation with participating district representatives regarding district needs and requirements prior to applying for employment.

As the grand finale of EDWeek, the 2019 Educators’ Job Fair welcomes students, alumni and graduate professionals seeking employment opportunities in school districts, charter and magnet schools, including additional educational and youth-focused organizations. We suggest that students wear professional attire and bring several copies of their resume. All majors are invited to attend.
