Fostering a community of belonging for all students is a cornerstone of CSULB’s mission to be a student-ready university that welcomes learners from all backgrounds.

Cal State Long Beach has earned the prestigious 2023 Seal of Excelencia, joining a distinctive group of colleges and universities who have been recognized for its commitment to Latinx student success.

This 2023-24 academic year, Cal State Long Beach launches the new Beach XP learning community program. Short for Beach Experience, the program is designed to boost and maintain enrollment among first-time, first-year students by fostering a community of belonging.

The Future U project pushes CSULB closer toward its goals to foster a community of belonging, prioritize student health and well-being, and connect learning to the future of work — objectives key to our mission to be student-ready. 

CHHS leaders early on got to work aligning the college’s own strategic priorities with the ones laid out in the Beach 2030 campaign. Developing a comprehensive planning process to set and achieve annual goals has been the focus of CHHS’s recent efforts.  

At the core of the funding effort is a mission to enhance pathways for personal and professional achievement, a fundamental objective of Beach 2030’s Reimagine Staff action zone.

Ensuring the campus is equipped to welcome and engage new students with the latest educational technologies is at the forefront of CSULB’s mission to connect learning to the future of work — a goal core to creating a student-ready university. 

As university leaders work to ensure futures-thinking becomes a core practice in strategic planning and decision-making at CSULB, a series of workshops led by the Institute for the Future kicked off this year with the goal of developing a definitive foresight toolkit at The Beach.

The CSULB Speech-Language Clinic, a free community resource, is made possible through a partnership between the Speech-Language and Pathology department and The RiteCare Childhood Language Center of Long Beach. It serves as a meaningful example of how CSULB can advance partnerships for the public good, a core tenet of the Beach 2030 vision.

As CSULB makes strides toward realizing its Beach 2030 vision, Find Help Now serves as another tool to further the university’s mission to cultivate resilience on campus and in the community by prioritizing the health and well-being of its constituents.
