DoIT Leads the Way in Building a Smart, Future-Ready Campus

At the forefront of innovation and progress at CSULB is the Division of Information Technology Services (DoIT)—a team often working behind the scenes to transform how we learn, work, and connect. Through its Smart Campus Initiative, DoIT is modernizing the university’s technology infrastructure and reimagining how technology supports teaching, operations, and student success.

From streamlining applications to deploying advanced AI tools like Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Edu, and Adobe Firefly, DoIT is shaping a smarter, more efficient campus. Students now have access to resources like the Canvas Course Copilot for real-time academic support, Ask Elbee for 24/7 guidance, and a Virtual Help Desk for on-demand assistance. These tools not only improve access and communication but also expand inclusivity through features like multilingual support and accessibility enhancements.

DoIT’s impact extends beyond the classroom. With secure systems like DocuSign, digital display directories to guide visitors, and high-performance computing environments that fuel faculty and student research, the division is strengthening both digital and physical infrastructure. In alignment with Beach 2030’s Future of Work initiatives, DoIT is also piloting new systems to maximize campus space and streamline event management.

Together, these efforts highlight DoIT’s role in keeping CSULB safe, smart, and future-ready—creating a more inclusive and enriching experience for everyone at The Beach.
