Louise Ukleja is executive director of Opportunity Schools, an educational nonprofit she founded to meet the needs of her daughter who had been diagnosed with multiple learning and social challenges. Louise has a passion for creating public awareness on the importance of reaching at-risk children by unlocking their hidden potential and helping them achieve success.
With a personal mission “to ignite potential,” Louise has incorporated this into her leadership role at Opportunity Schools, as well as a variety of other nonprofits.
Louise actively serves on a number of boards and is a philanthropist in Long Beach. In 2018, she was recognized by Cal State Long Beach with the prestigious Bob Murphy Impact Award in recognition of her ongoing support of students with disabilities, and also founded the Lois Shakarian Awareness Center on campus and the Lois Shakarian Educational Support Services in memory and honor of her mother, a teacher from 1925-1945.
Louise has a B.A. in business administration from The Ohio University.
