Christine Whitcraft
Christine Whitcraft, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Cal State, Long Beach.
Whitcraft’s areas of expertise include wetland ecology, human effects on coastal ecosystems, and climate change. Her wetlands field lab studies all things wetlands, from microbes to fish. The lab is interested in how human activities influence the structure and function of coastal wetlands, particularly food webs. Its projects include work on the impacts of non-native and invasive species, altered hydrology, climate change, and restoration at field sites from Baja to San Francisco.
Whitcraft holds a doctorate in oceanography from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. She completed her postdoctoral work at San Francisco State University and the San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
