Sara Moghtadernejad
Sara Moghtadernejad, Ph.D., is an associate professor of chemical engineering at Cal State Long Beach.
She leads research in advanced manufacturing, multiphase systems, and surface and interface science, with expertise in additive manufacturing, powder technology, droplet and particle dynamics, process scale-up, and regulatory science. Her work translates engineering fundamentals into safe, scalable, and quality-driven manufacturing solutions.
She directs a multidisciplinary laboratory combining experimental methods with computational modeling, including finite element and computational fluid dynamics analysis. Her research promotes industry adoption of emerging technologies and advances regulatory and quality frameworks for complex products.
A licensed professional engineer with global academic and industry experience, she is committed to preparing future engineers to innovate responsibly and with societal impact. She earned her doctorate in mechanical engineering from Concordia University in Montreal, a master’s degree from the University of Queensland, and a bachelor’s degree from Sharif University of Technology.
