FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Guests and participants carrying bags that do not comply with the Clear Bag Policy will be asked to return their bags to their vehicle and transfer their belongings to an approved clear plastic bag before entering the venue.

If you arrive by rideshare, please check your bag/s at the security bag check at the beginning of the security line.

CSULB will not accept responsibility for storing or checking unpermitted items at this time.

The one-gallon clear plastic storage bag (i.e. Ziploc bag) can be found at any local grocery store. The logo'd 12" x 6" x 12" clear bag can be purchased through the University Bookstore in store, online, and at their booths during Commencement.

Only clear bags are permitted with either the approximate 12"x6"x12" clear tote bag or the one-gallon clear plastic storage bag.

Diaper bags must conform with the clear bag policy.

Bags carrying items that are medical in nature, such as prescription medication, breast pumps and other special medical equipment, will be permitted on a case by case basis after being searched upon entry.

An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection by the respective gate supervisor.

No. We are limiting only the type of bags carried into the venue. Therefore, you can carry items in your pockets or jacket (keys, makeup, feminine products, comb, phone, wallet, credit cards, etc.) if you choose not to put them in a clear bag.

Guests and graduates will be able to bring these items into the ceremony venues by tossing them over a shoulder or arm. Items that are folded up will have to be opened up in order to gain entry into the ceremony venue.

Any prohibited item at the gate will be highly visible and more quickly identified. Prohibited bags will be turned away. Clear bags are easily and quickly searched and greatly reduce faulty bag searches. It also supports the Department of Homeland Security's "If You See Something, Say Something" campaign.

This will enable us to move guests and participants through our gates much faster. Staff will be more efficient and effective in checking bags that are brought into ceremony venues. There will be less time spent standing in lines at the gates, allowing guests and graduates more time to get to their seats prior to the event.
