Transcripts - Current Students

Transcripts:
Transcripts are the official means of verifying completion of courses and conferral of degrees.  Transcripts contain details such as course titles, units attempted, and final grades for each term of attendance at CSULB.  As a current student, you can request official transcripts online or through other avenues.  There is a fee for each official transcript. You can access and print your unofficial transcript for free through your MyCSULB Student Center.

Enrollment Verification:
If you only require enrollment verification without the detail found on a transcript, (e.g., for job applications, military service benefits,  insurance discounts)  free official enrollment verification certificates are available online from the National Student Clearinghouse. Enrollment data is refreshed at key intervals through the year.  This online process is available at your convenience to generate and email an official .pdf certificate to your CSULB email address.

Third parties can request your official enrollment verification certificate directly.  They will need to pay a small fee ($2.50) to the National Student Clearinghouse.
Please refer them to:

If the official certificate from the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) does not meet your needs, you will need to contact Enrollment Services in the courtyard of Brotman Hall to request a custom enrollment verification certificate.  There is a $10 fee for this service, which can sometimes take up to 10 days to complete.

Common Questions on Enrollment Verification

  1. What is an enrollment verification?
An enrollment verification is a document that officially verifies that you are enrolled at CSULB. Various agencies and organizations may require that you provide this information for insurance coverage, scholarships, study abroad, athletic participation, etc.

  2. Is there any cost associated with this service?
CSULB has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) to provide official enrollment verification certificates via email to current students free of charge. Students may obtain their official enrollment verifications online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by logging on through Single Sign-On (SSO).  Just select the "National Student Clearinghouse" button in your student dashboard. If the free certificate does not meet your needs;  an official transcript or custom enrollment verification certificate are available for a fee.

  3. What is the National Student Clearinghouse?
Many U.S. institutions, including CSULB, provide enrollment and graduation data to the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC). The NSC acts as their authorized agent, mainly providing deferment information for financial aid students to the education finance industry and Department of Education. In addition, the NSC provides certain additional services which institutions may utilize such as self-service official enrollment verification.

  4. What information is on an enrollment verification form?
Verification forms include your name, current enrollment status, the valid dates of that status and an an expected graduation date (if applicable).

  5. Do enrollment verification forms include any academic information such as GPA?
No, these forms do not include GPA. If you require academic information, such as a "good student discount," you must request an official transcript.

  6. Will an enrollment verification provide proof of enrollment for the entire upcoming school year?
No, the form will not verify future terms. It will only verify enrollment for the term(s) in which you have been or currently are enrolled (registered for courses).

  7. I am a new student who has not yet registered for classes. Can I provide proof of enrollment to my insurance company?
No.  Since you are not enrolled yet, a verification is not available. Enrollment data is transmitted to the NSC at regular intervals. After you enroll in courses and the data is transmitted to the NSC, you will be able to request an enrollment verification.

  8. My insurance company provided a form to fill out. Do I have to use that one?
No, you may print the official online enrollment verification form and attach it to the form the insurance company has provided. This is typically accepted by most agencies.

  9. My insurance company asked for policy and account information on the form. How can I provide that?
The NSC Enrollment Verification form includes a space at the top where you may enter policy/account information for the convenience of your carrier.

  10.  I tried to get the most current enrollment verification information to give to another party but the information is not up-to-date.  How often does information get updated?
Information is sent to the National Clearinghouse approximately every thirty days.  If you have recently made any changes to your enrollment and need the most current updates on your record, please note the following calendar for information updates that will be sent to the National Clearinghouse:

    August 31, 2017
    September 19, 2017
    October 17, 2017
    November 21, 2017
    December 21, 2017
    January 10, 2018
    February 13, 2018
    March 13, 2018
    April 17, 2018
    May 22, 2018
    June 12, 2018
    June 19, 2018 (Summer Registration)

  11. I can’t wait for the next scheduled transmission update.  What are my options?
If you cannot wait, you may be able to request a transcript (unofficial transcripts are available free of charge; there is a fee for official transcripts), or you can contact Enrollment Services for a custom enrollment verification certificate (there is a $10 fee for this service).

  12. I am an active student enrolled for the Fall 2017 semester. How can I get a free enrollment verification certificate if upcoming enrollment information is not yet available through Single Sign On?
Free enrollment verification through the Student Sign-On page for active students enrolled in the upcoming semester will not be available until late August (August 25). You may still obtain an Enrollment Verification Certificate through the National Student Clearinghouse site for a fee of $2.50. You may also instead request an official transcript for a fee, or an unofficial transcript at no charge.
