In honor of World Autism Awareness Day, the California State University interviewed three CSULB College of Ed special education credential students. Students Liam Whitney, Alyssa Pekarcik, and Devon Wilson share with the CSU how the College of Ed prepared them to excel in the classroom and discuss why they chose a career in special education. “‘I've seen how rewarding the career of a special education teacher is, as well as the lifelong impact a teacher can make for a child with a disability and their family,’ explains Devon Wilson, a graduate student at CSU Long Beach's College of Education. ‘I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, but I never knew how much this career would positively impact my life.’"
