Bike

Biking is a great option for students and staff. Get your exercise and fight climate change one ride at a time!

Those who choose to bike to CSULB enjoy “parking” right next to their destinations and saving the cost of a parking permit. Plan your trip by checking out the Long Beach City bike map or Orange County bike map and check out these safety tips to increase your confidence.

There are also many resources on campus to support you including 3 bike fix-it stations, 2 bike tools kits that you can rent for free from the VIC and Parking Office along with U-Locks and bike lights available at the campus bookstore.

CSULB was recognized in 2020 as a silver level Bike Friendly University by The League of American Bicyclists.

For safety, bicycles must be parked at one of the 66 bicycle racks located throughout campus. View the Campus Wheel Paths Map for the locations of bike lanes and racks on campus.

Want to freshen up after biking to campus? Students can use the locker rooms and showers at the Student Recreation Wellness Center (SRWC) or gain access to the Kinesiology Locker Room for $10/semester by filling out the Kinesiology Locker Room Registration Form.

Staff and faculty qualify for even longer term rentals and are exempt from the $10 rental fee. Staff and faculty should request a locker in person from the locker room attendant in the Kinesiology Building.

A bicycle pump and a 48-piece kit of commonly used bike tools are available in the Parking Office or Visitor Information Center (VIC), Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Simply present your campus ID to check out the tool kit and/or pump.

We recommend the use of a U-Lock device rather than a chain or cable to protect your bike. Registering your bike also provides helpful information to law enforcement in the event your bike is stolen and increases the likelihood that your bike will be recovered.

To register your bicycle, please contact University Police at 562.985.4101. This service is provided free of charge. Please bring a proof of purchase if you have it available.

The Campus Wheel Paths project was designed to provide students with a safe, comfortable and easy-to-use wayfinding system throughout campus and encourage sustainable methods of transportation.
