Nutrition Services

A healthy diet is an important component for a thriving body and mind. The foods we consume play an important role in how we feel now and prevention of future disease. The Student Health Center offers three options listed below and appointments are available in-person or via Zoom Telehealth.  Also, nutrition services are free of charge.

Nutrition Workshop

This workshop covers healthy eating on a budget, preparing fast and healthy meals, benefits of eating a healthy diet, and intuitive eating. Our nutrition workshop is taught by trained peer educators. To make an appointment, please email wellness@csulb.edu.

Peer Nutrition Counseling

Peer Nutrition Counseling is available during a portion of fall and spring semesters.    Peer nutrition counselors can provide helpful information about healthy eating on the go, incorporating healthy foods on a budget, or making dietary changes for cholesterol or high blood pressure.  If interested, please click on the link and complete a Nutrition Intake Form.  Once completed, you will be contacted for an appointment.

Registered Dietitian

A Registered Dietitian is available for students who have medically complex nutrition concerns such as: Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, or High Cholesterol. The Registered Dietitian also specializes in Eating Disorders and practices from the following philosophies: Health At Every Size (HAES), All Foods Fit, and Body Neutrality. The Registered Dietitian is a non-diet Dietitian and will not prescribe typical diets (i.e. Ketogenic Diet, Intermittent Fasting), but will instead assist in creating realistic lifestyle and nutritional changes that improve overall health and quality of life. If interested, please click on the link and complete a Nutrition Intake Form. Once completed, you will be contacted for an appointment.

Additionally, if you feel you have an urgent need for eating disorder support with the Registered Dietitian, please call 562-985-4874
