Jan. 24: INTRODUCTION

  • Mini Experiment 1 is due today.
  • Continue with THExp #1

    Feb. 1: Continue Chapter 1, begin Chapter 2.
  • Mini Experiment 1 is graded, pick up yours.
  • THExp #1 due next time.
  • Moonrise at approximately 9pm, sets around 9am.

    Feb. 3: Chapter 2.
    Turn in THExp #1.
    Moonrise/set iss approximately Midnight-> noon.  Keep making THExp#3 observations.

    Feb. 8: Continue Chapter 2, talk about some Chapter 1, 2 questions.
    THExp #1 is graded.
    The moon is in its new phase, so you won't be able to see it for a couple of days, but start looking towards the west in a couple of days just after sunset to keep up with THExp #3,4.

    Feb. 10: Finish Chapter1,2 questions, Chapter 3.
    The moon is a crescent now, visible just after sunset.  Try THExp #3,4 measurements at 7-8pm through the weekend.

    Feb. 15: Chapter 4.

    Feb. 17: Chapter 5.
    Bring your observations for THExp #3, and we will construct some of the geometric overhead diagrams in class.
    I will assign Mini Experiment II (worth 5 points on Exam I) in class.  The instructions for the extra credit are not going to be posted here, you have to come to class to see them.
