FAST & FANTASTIC

FAST & FANTASTIC is a one-day event that introduces high school students and teachers to real-life opportunities in digital arts and technologies through compelling presentations and panels. Recognized professionals working in the related fields of filmmaking, game design, animation, and digital special effects are invited to present to students from high schools in Los Angeles and Orange County. The goals of Fast and Fantastic are to expose students to the latest applications of technology in the digital arts industries, demonstrate to students the ways in which design professionals are pursuing successful careers, encourage students to pursue a college education, and promote leadership and mentoring skills for students.

Past Fast & FANTASTIC presenters include: Alex McDowell, Production Designer for Minority Report and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; John Stevenson, Director of Kung Fu Panda; Catherine Hardwicke, Director of Twilight; John Underkoffler, creator of the G-Speak gestural operating system; Gabe Bartalos, director and master of prosthetic special effects; Joaquin Baldwin, Director and Animator of Sebastian’s Voodoo; and Kellee Santiago, President of thatgamecompany makers of the video games Cloud, Flow and Flower, Disney Imagineers, and many other talented professionals.
