Student Assistant/
Front Counter Receptionist |
Provide LAC information to students, staff and faculty; schedule appointments, enter data, process calls using multi-line phone; make photo copies; send faxes; support Assistant Office Manager and staff with various tasks and projects.
Hours: 6 - 15 hrs/weekly |
Some typing and knowledge of word processing. Must have good communication skills and be open to learning new skills. |

Tutor
|
Meet with students in an individual, shared or group tutoring format to enhance, support, and clarify concepts discussed in class lectures, readings, handouts, etc. Provide guidance in study skills methods. Hours: 2 - 20 hrs/weekly | Upper class level or graduate student, major or minor in the subject area or related filed, minimum 3.0 GPA, three letters of recommendation from professors, excellent communication skills. |

Supplemental Instruction
Leader
|
Facilitate group of 10 -35 students to learn course content and effective study skills strategies including; reading text books, memory and test-taking. Preview, review and apply course concepts, clarify terms and definitions. Hours: 11 hrs per week, per class | Upper class level or graduate student, major or minor in the subject field, minimum 3.0 GPA, three letters of recommendation from professors, excellent communications skills. |

ESL Specialist |
Tutor ESL students individually or in a small group. Participate with professional staff in assessing student needs, planning curriculum and assisting students with academic English language development. Hours: 10 - 20 hrs/weekly |
Native fluency in standard oral & written English. Upper class or graduate student, major in English, Linguistics (esp. TESL), Bilingual Ed, foreign language,or Communications Studies.
Minimum 3.0 GPA, 3 letters of recommendation from professors. Excellent Communications Skills. Must have passed WPE. | |
Conversation Lab Volunteer |
Meet with ESL students individually or in a small group to enhance students' English conversation skills, correctness and fluency , pronunciation, vocabulary, idioms, and application of these skills to academic tasks (oral and written). Hours: one or more per week | Native fluency in standard oral and written English. Good cross-cultural sensitivity. Some understanding of difficulties of mastering a second language. College degree or professional experience highly desirable. |
