How do I become a dance major at CSULB? What do I do?

Visit the Department Auditions page on the CSULB Dance website. Information on the audition process and how to apply to CSULB is available can be found there.

Do I have to audition if I want to be a Dance Science Major?

Yes.  CSULB Dance reqires auditions for all (BA in Dance, BA in Dance Science, and BFA) degrees.

How long is the audition?

The audition will last 2 to 2.5 hours depending on how large the audition is.

Do you offer a minor?

Yes, CSULB Dance offers a minor. If you are interested in taking majors level technique class and auditioning for Department concerts, you must pass the Minor Technique Screening (MTS). The MTS is offered in August and February. More information about the MTS is available on our prospective student page.

When are the dance team auditions?

Although many of our dance majors have been a part of the Long Beach State Dance team, it is not part of CSULB Dance. Please visit the Long Beach State Athletics page for more information.
