Getting Books at CSULB- Using
the library catalog COAST |
Coast is
the library catalog. It will tell you what BOOKS, JOURNALS and MAGAZINES are here in
the Library at CSULB. This is only a sampling of subject headings which may be used
to search COAST. Click on any of the following subjects now to retrieve records from
COAST. If you would like to do search for a subject other than those listed, click here now.
- What is it?
- COAST is the library catalog- that means it tells you what
books, journal titles, government documents, videos and anything else that's in the
library at CSU Long Beach.
-
- How do I use it?
- You can search COAST by keywords, author, title or Library
of Congress Subject Headings.
-
- When do I use it?
- Use it to find books on your topic
- Use it to find out if the library gets a journal title
- Use it to find government documents or any other item the
library gets.
Tips for using COAST
- Search by Subject first- but keep in mind
that you are using the Library Of Congress Subjects not just a generic Subject search.
- If you get zero results then try your
search by Keyword
- Once you do a search- sort your results by year
(this gives you the new items first- click on
Limit/Sort |
option at the top of the screen and select
"sort by year") |
- Once you find a book that looks good for your topic, take a
look at the subject headings at the end of the record- just click on the one that best
matches your topic!
