For nearly three decades, CSULB alumnus Russ Lesser served as president of Body Glove International, the company that revolutionized surfing and diving through the invention of the first practical wetsuit. Today, Lesser — who is also a former mayor of Manhattan Beach and a former managing partner of venerable accounting firm Windes & McClaughry (now Windes) — is helping his alma mater expand honors-level business studies and revitalize its alumni- and community-engagement strategies.
A loyal, longtime supporter of CSULB, Mr. Lesser has given generously to the College of Business Administration (CBA), where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1964, and today supports both the CBA Honors Program and the Russ & Charlotte Lesser Family Accountancy Scholarship. Through these gifts, Mr. Lesser is helping fund honors sections of business courses, creating new opportunities for faculty-student collaboration, and providing much-needed financial assistance to accounting students at The Beach.
In addition, Mr. Lesser is an inaugural member of the newly launched CSULB South Bay Regional Council. In this capacity, he is serving as an ambassador and advocate, working with a leadership team of dedicated alumni and friends to build affinity, loyalty, and Beach Pride, primarily among South Bay-area alumni.
