Minor in Dance

Students interested in minoring in Dance should contact Dance Undergraduate Advisor Kirsten Sumpter (appointments available here) for information about adding the Minor in Dance. Students must complete 6 units in Dance before acceptance to the Minor in Dance.

Auditions are not required for the Minor in Dance. However, Minors wishing to take dance major-level technique courses and/or perform in Department concerts must pass the Minor Technique Screening in order to do so (students who began as Dance Majors and changed their major may take major-level technique classes and audition for dance concerts without taking the Minor Technique Screening only if they have successfully declared the Minor in Dance). The Minor Technique Screening occurs alongside the Department auditions in February and August.  Only students eligible to enter the Minor in Dance (those who will have completed at least 6 units in Dance by the end of the current semester) may take the Minor Technique Screening.
