Reference Requests: I am honored to serve as a reference for students and alumni for graduate school applications and for specific jobs—but I will not write general letters of recommendation, as few employers value them. Please read "How to Request a Letter of Recommendation from a Professor," and provide the following information:

  • Description of the job or graduate program for which you are applying
  • Your updated resume
  • Statement of purpose (for graduate school applications), a copy of your cover letter or some information regarding your interest and qualifications for the job
  • Explicit directions about how and where to send the letter or form (e.g., if it needs to be in a sealed envelope, sent to you or the school or central processing agency)
  • If you are asking permission to give my name as a reference for a potential employer to call, please let me know the name of the person who might be calling

Career Development Information: Here are some resources to help students and alumni market themselves and function effectively in the workplace. I will be adding more information to this section of the web site in the future.
