INFORMATION
By the term negative thinking we are
including a number of related topics that can undermine success and
happiness. Research has shown beyond little doubt that various forms of
negative and other forms of dysfunctional thinking underlie many psychological
and emotional problems--including chronic problems with anxiety, anger, and
depression; problems in relationships; and problems in motivation.

ADVICE
Negative thinking can be overcome and
replaced with more constructive and positive values, beliefs, goals, and
thinking styles that can make a dramatic difference in your life as it has for
so many others. Changing these powerful underlying primary psychological
causes of lack of success and happiness may be the most important single thing
you can do for yourself.
If you have not already done
so, be sure and take the CARES Self-Assessment, which can provide feedback and
help links on a number of these negative thinking factors.
In addition to the references
below, explore the categories
represented by the boxes above to learn more about the different factors
involved in the general category of negative thinking.
