INFORMATION
Assertion training can teach you how to be
more assertive interacting with other people including meeting people,
conversational skills, developing intimacy, dealing with criticism and
manipulation, and resolving disagreements and conflict. You can learn to
resolve disagreements in a calm, diplomatic manner resulting in
"win-win" solutions to underlying problems. Assertion training focuses
both upon developing more positive and confident thoughts and upon acting with
high levels of interpersonal skills for becoming more outgoing, influential, and
able to form close relationships. Assertive behavior is contrasted to
nonassertive (shy, timid, passive, and submissive) and aggressive (dominating,
manipulative, overbearing, critical, and/or angry) behavior.
