RIAA sues college students over illegal downloads

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced today that they will be suing students for copyright infringement at several colleges that use the Internet2 network .

Internet2 is an advanced network developed by participating universities to facilitate research such as data required for experiments, large image files, etc. This network also enables music and motion picture files to be sent in seconds as opposed to the ubiquitous Internet where files such as these can take several minutes. The MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) is planning a similar suit.

There was an article about this in every major newspaper today. Read some of them in our Newspapers database. Here is a link to the story at the RIAA website.
