Attendance Policy
Active participation in class is very
important. For each absence you’ll lose 5 points and 1
point for each tardiness. Absences, tardiness, and early exits are inadvisable.
Each absence will also result in the loss of class assigned activity of the
day. In case of emergency notify the instructor prior to class. The practices
in class and the collaborative activities are essential for success in exams.
There is no possible makeup for the activities that you miss. You need to be
actively involved in discussions, presentations, and practices. Please use this

Activities
Details of each activity will be announced one
at a time in class. You should be actively involved in classroom activities
such as discussions, interactive web sites, voting & rating, practice
assignments, and email communications. Sometimes you will be asked to send
specific activities to the BeachBoard. Even if you are present in class but not
actively involved you will lose 10 points for activities. Furthermore, if you
are late for the class you will lose 2 points for each class. For each
unexcused absence you will lose 10 points. Special cases will be considered
according to the university attendance policy.

Course
Objectives
In this course students are expected to learn
to:
1. Use computer
applications to manage records (i.e. use a spreadsheet for grades)
2. Interact with others
using e-mail
3. Choose
software for its relevance, effectiveness, alignment with content standards,
and value added to student learning
4. Demonstrate
competence in the use of electronic research tools
5. Analyze
"best practices" / research findings on the use of computer
technology and design lessons accordingly
6. Demonstrate
knowledge of copyright issues
7. Demonstrate
knowledge of privacy, security, and safety issues
8. Demonstrate
knowledge of legal, ethical, and social issues concerned with computer-based
technology
9. Use a computer
application to manipulate and analyze data
10. Communicate using a variety of media,
including creating and electronically publishing Web pages and creating a
PowerPoint presentation
11. Interact and collaborate with others
using computer-based collaborative tools
12. Design/adapt/teach a lesson plan
incorporating computer technology
13. Use technology in lessons to increase
each student's ability to plan, locate, evaluate, select, use information to
solve problems
14. Identify uses of technology for
diverse learners, including assistive technology
15. Identify issues associated with using
technology effectively in multicultural and urban classrooms
Writing:
College-level writing is expected. The grades
for some assignments will be based, in part, on writing.
Assignments no more than one week late will be
subject to a 10% penalty. Assignments no more than two or three weeks late are
subject to a 20% penalty. Assignments beyond three weeks late may only be
accepted by special arrangement with the instructor. Assignments cannot be
accepted after the last week of instruction.
Students with

Students with disabilities who need reasonable
modifications, special assistance, or accommodations in this course should
direct their request to the course instructor. If a student with a disability
feels that modifications, special assistance, or accommodations offered are
inappropriate or insufficient, he/she should see the assistance of the Director

Cheating and
plagiarism:
Depending on the circumstances, penalties may
include a zero score on the involved assignment/exam, an "F" for the
course, and/or referral to the Office of Judicial Affairs. In some cases, the
Office of Judicial Affairs may impose possible probation, suspension, and/or
expulsion.
