The Dragon Lode
The Dragon Lode
(ISSN 1098-6448), a juried journal, is published twice a year by
the International Reading Association Childrens Literature
and Reading Special Interest Group.
It provides readers with a forum for exchange of ideas concerning
the content and teaching of Childrens Literature in the development
of literacy.
The Dragon Lode is housed
at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg where it is
supported by the College of Education and Human Services as well
as the Department of Curriculum & Instruction.

Call
for Manuscripts
We invite all those interested in
bringing children and their literature together to submit articles
for publication. We request scholarly articles that are of interest
to teachers as well as practical ones grounded in theory and research.
We invite a wide range of submissions focusing on critical issues,
research, and/or instructional strategies as they relate to
- Multicultural literature for children
- Diversity themes & strategies in litercy
education

Fall 2005 Issue
The new editors of the Dragon
Lode are soliciting manuscripts for future issues.
The Fall '05 issue will be an unthemed
issue. Please send manuscripts on the general topic of children's
literature in Microsoft Word, between approximately nine and twenty
pages in length, by July 15, 2005,
as an email attachment to Dawna
Lisa Buchanan (buchanan@cmsu1.cmsu.edu).
Spring
2006 Issue
The theme for the Spring '06 issue will be "Reader
Response: A Celebration of Literary Genres." Please submit
manuscripts in Microsoft Word, between approximately nine and twenty
pages in length, by October 15, 2005,
as an email attachment to Dawna
Lisa Buchanan.

Subscriptions to The
Dragon Lode are available for anyone wishing
to purchase the subscription. Those who subscribe and are also members
of IRA become members of this special interest group (please
be sure to keep us posted of your IRA membership status). We encourage
