University Choir and Chamber Choir:
A Serenade To Music

Jonathan Talberg and Olga Spriggs, directors

Presenting works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Dominic DiOrio, Hugo Wolf, and a premiere by American Composer Richard Burchard, this concert will feature two of the finest collegiate choral ensembles in the United States. The Bob Cole Chamber Choir and CSULB University Choir maintain a significant touring and recording schedule; they have been featured in performances with the Rolling Stones, the Kronos Quartet, virtually all of Southern California’s professional musical organizations and on video and film soundtracks. The concert will feature the Bob Cole Conservatory’s newest professors on the performance faculty: internationally renowned violinist Moni Simeonov and Ted Atkatz, front man for the band NYCO and former principal percussionist of the Chicago Symphony—playing Vaughan Williams and DiOrio, respectively.

University Woodwind Quintet / Conservatory Brass Quintet

John Barcellona and Rob Frear, directors

The University Wind Quintet members this year are: Vanessa Fourla—flute, Spencer Klass—oboe, Sarra Hey—clarinet, Sarah Krueger—horn, Brian Tuley—bassoon. They will perform Quintet Op. 43—Carl Nielsen.

The University Brass Quintet Members are: Harry Ostrander & Evan Walsh—trumpets, Christian Siqueiros—horn, Tyler McGeough—trombone, Prichard Pearce III—tuba. Their program includes Fanfare to La Peri—Paul Dukas, Scherzo—John Cheetham, Quintet—Malcolm Arnold, Madrigals—Claudio Monteverdi, Sonatine—Eugene Bozza, and That's a Plenty—arranged by Jack Gale.

Thursday, October 23
8:00pm Daniel Recital Hall
Brass Chamber Music, Shoreline Winds, + Concert Band

Rob Frear, Greg Flores and Jermie Arnold, conductors

Brass Chamber Music featuring music by Gabrieli, J. Brahms, C. Jones and V. Ewald. The Shoreline Winds, under the direction of alumnus Greg Flores, will perform works by Mussorgsky, Ippolitov-Ivanov and Rossini. The Concert Band will conclude the evening with Abracadabra—Frank Ticheli, The Witch and the Saint—Steven Reineke, Dancing at Stonehenge—Anthony Suter and Harry Potter Symphonic Suite—John Williams.

World Percussion Concert

Dave Gerhart, Eric Hartwell & Neili Sutker, directors

The World Percussion Ensemble will perform Calypso Music—David Rudder; Fall From Grace—Darren Dyke; Let's Move to Cleveland—Frank Zappa; Playa Larga—Ray Holman; and Somebody—Timothy “Baron" Watkins Jr.

The West African Drum Ensemble will perform Agbekor, Gota, and Agahu.
