Academic Enrichment Camp
Academic Enrichment Camp Registration is closed for both sessions.
Academic Enrichment Camp helps bridge the gap between grades with fun classroom activities! Designed as a daily morning session camp, attendees are exposed to lessons to help prepare them for their next grade level. It’s a great way for your campers to spend the morning if heading over to 49er Camp in the afternoon.
Session I - June 20 - July 15
Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Session II - July 18 - August 12
Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- Full payment without discounts is $700 per child per session.
- A mandatory $100 non-refundable deposit is required with each application, and for each session. You must pay the deposit with the online payment process, otherwise your application will not be accepted. Balance payments must be made by June 13th, 2022 (Session 1) and July 14th (Session 2). Your camp application will be canceled if full payment is not received by the due date.
- All applicants will pay online through our secure processor CASHNet using a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or American Express). Payments for balance of registration fees due will be accepted after the $100 non-refundable deposit is processed. Balance of the registration fees must be made online by credit card.
- Refunds Policy:
- The mandatory $100 deposit is not refundable.
- A full refund, minus the deposit may be granted if the participant withdraws (7) days or more prior to the start of each camp session they will not be attending. Any participants requesting a refund due to full withdraw from an active camp session may be eligible for a refund for up to one week of camp.
- Children may not attend camp until the registration balance is paid.
Note: After you submit your online registration, your application will be processed and a confirmation email will be sent to you with balance information and application instructions.

What to Bring
- Backpack (with name written on the inside)
- Water bottle (with poptop, filtration stations available)
- Healthy Snacks
- Lunch, sunscreen, swimsuit and towel (if staying for 49er Camp in the afternoon, separate application)
What to Wear
- Comfortable and light colored clothing is best
- Close-toed shoes (tennis shoes required for 49er Camp)
- Light sweatshirt (computer classrooms are air conditioned)
Camp Policies & Procedures
- Children are not to bring cell phones, iPods, toys, electronic games or trading cards to the camp. The camp staff and the university are not responsible for any lost or stolen articles while your child is attending camp.
- If your child will not be attending camp (due to illness, etc.) please inform the camp office prior to 9:00 a.m. (562) 985-2216, (562) 985-2570 or (562) 985-7351.
- If you are late in dropping your children off, it is your responsibility to walk them to the Club Sports and Recreation Office (KIN-20A). We will have staff available to walk them to the appropriate classroom.
- You are more than welcome to visit your child at camp. However, we would appreciate a note indicating the day and time you would like to visit. You are more than welcome to join your child for lunch. Do not take them out of the lunch area without notifying the Camp Director.
- If you plan to pick your children up from camp earlier than the 12:00 noon ending time, you (or another adult you have authorized to pick up your child) must come to the Club Sports and Recreation Office (PE-20A) and sign them out for the day.
- Children who exhibit repetitive poor behavior will be subject to dismissal from the camp. A refund will not be given. Parents will be notified of problems and encouraged to assist the camp staff in resolving the problems.
- If your child has special needs, (i.e. allergies, medication, behavior, instruction etc.)and/or has and IEP or Behavior Plan please alert the camp staff in letter form and mail it to the camp office along with the required waiver forms.
- All required forms must be signed and submitted to the camp office prior to the start of camp.
Drop-off and Pick-up Location Procedures
- If you are dropping off your child and NOT walking in with them:
- Drop off will be at the East Campus Turnaround. We will have supervision at this location from 7:15 a.m. (early morning drop off - $30 per camper extra fee) until 8:20 a.m.
- Drop off for those not participating in the early morning drop off will be 8:00 a.m. - 8:20 a.m.
- If you plan to walk with your child to the East Gym, you will be able to park in LOT G12
- There will be FREE PARKING for 45 minutes.
- We will not provide staff supervision at LOT G12.
- If you are late in dropping off your child to the camp (after the 8:20 a.m. dropoff time at the supervised East Campus turnaround), it will be your responsibility to escort them to the Camp Office (KIN 20A)
Morning Supervision
We will be offering an early morning supervision program to accommodate those parents who cannot meet the 8:00 a.m. general camp drop off time. Early morning supervision will run 7:15 a.m. to the start of camp which is 8:30 a.m. Cost of the early morning supervision program will be an ADDITIONAL FEE OF $30. If you are enrolling your child in the early morning supervision program, you may drop them off at the East Campus Turnaround beginning at 7:15 a.m. We will provide supervision at this location from 7:15 - 8:20 a.m.
End of Camp:
- Academic Camp: Parent Pick-up is at 12:10 p.m., East Campus turn around off of East Campus Drive.
- After 12:20 p.m. Campers will be brought back to Camp Office. Parents will pick up their child(ren) from the Camp Office. A fee will be assessed for late pick-up.
Sunscreen
Please pack sunscreen for your child(ren). We will make every effort possible to assist in applying the sunscreen prior to the start of the 49er Camp.
Transition to 49er Camp
Those campers who have registered for the same session of the 49er Camp will be escorted to the East Gym at 12:40 p.m.
Daily Activity Schedule
Each student will be assigned to a group based on the grade they will be entering in Fall 2022. Students in Kindergarten-Fifth grade will be assigned to one classroom and one instructor and will cover a variety of subjects pertinent to their grade level. Students in sixth through eighth grades will have a different instructor for each subject: math, language arts, art and computers. There will be three subjects taught each day. The campers will be escorted from room to room by a teacher’s aide.
Sample Schedule
K - 5th Grade - Campers will receive instruction in Art, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Computers throughout the 4 weeks of camp.
6th - 8th Grade - Campers will receive 4 weeks of instruction in Language Arts and Math. For two weeks, each camper will receive instruction in Art and two weeks in Computers.
Recess & Lunch
- K - 4th Grade - will have recess from 10:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.
- 5th - 8th Grade - will have recess from 10:45 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
- Lunch - 12:00 - 12:40 p.m. (only for campers attending 49er Camp).
Please be sure to provide your child with a healthy snack for recess and a lunch if staying for the 49er camp. If you are going to pick up your child after camp please refer to the Drop - off and Pickup Procedures
